On March 23, 2007, the award ceremony was held at Vooruit in Ghent, Belgium for an audience of more than 500 people.
Journalist Phara de Aguirre was the host of the evening, chairman Leo De Bock presented the jury members and concealed the nominations, journalist Marc Van Glabbeek analysed the recent political changes in Latin America and Edward De Maesschalk of Canvas shared some memories of the late Dirk Vandersypen.
Winning documentary maker Florence Jaugey from Nicaragua was present to receive the Award statue and the prize money. She was honoured to win the prize dedicated to her late colleague and friend Dirk Vandersypen. After the screening of her documentary, she agreed to answer some questions from the public.
